Harris is trying to explain to you that we need to be understanding of the 70 million people who voted for Trump and have believed his claims and bought into his promises, while not forgiving or forgetting Trump and his enablers who are continuing to damage the country by deliberately attempting to undermine trust in democracy.

I agreed with everything else but I fail to see how understanding won't be viewed as being patronizing and condescending. Usually there's little to no good excuse for ignorance and especially if that ignorance is as seemingly willful as the ignorance on display by the vast majority of that 70 million. As I said in another thread the core of Trump's support stems from a diaspora of disaffected voters who've been following losers around since George Wallace's day. These people truly are deplorable and probably can't be salvaged. I bet more than a few in the Republican Party wished they could have been scraped off and left behind. But of course the greater GOP must be worried they'll follow some new Trump deeper down the rabbit hole the present Trump is digging and split the conservative vote the way they diluted the progressive vote when they followed Wallace off his cliff.
Edited to add; I need to add the caveat that it's always a stretch for me to call the Democrats the progressive choice in America's two party system.
