And he's not going to step aside, apparently.  Can we just have somebody reasonable for once?

On CNN they were saying this afternoon that this might well be a test of just how tribal American politics have become. Will the Republicans stand by him and will Republicans vote for him no matter what? Either because they will always vote Republican or because FOX news isn't telling them about this or they simply think it's "Fake news"

Really, nobody should like any politician.  Vote for the least reprehensible, which in the Alabama case should be anybody but this one.

Unless a magical Elon Musk NDP Candidate who vows to reduce inequality while making services better and cut taxes show up... I'll be in my trailer.

One thing that is frightening to me is that this moron got on the bench and was chief justice of the sc of Alabama. Apparently he opened sessions with prayers and had a stone carved plaque of the 10 commandments hanging behind his bench. We have some pretty weird Conservatives in this country but luckily not quite to that extreme, and lets hope it stays that way.

This article is a little outdated but it does point out what kind of a creep Moore is. He was even thinking of running for POTUS.

The Ten Commandments standoff led to national fame for Moore, and he flirted with running for president, courted by the Constitution Party. Ahead of the 2012 cycle, Moore visited Iowa and seemed poised to run on the GOP line, but he ultimately didn't enter the fray.

I don’t think he can step aside based on how the law is regarding turfing candidates this late in the race.  They are stuck with him.  Even if he did win and the allegations are true, a primary challenge next election is a foregone conclusion

Why? What makes you think the type of people who are so enthusiastic about Trump give a damn if this guy had sex with underage girls?

I'm still trying to figure out how this half-baked 70 year old super retard is at 50% support.  Democracy is a bad idea for such a place.

It's amazing how fast the right-wing spin on this article has evolved.

First it was "this is just a political smear campaign from the Bezos-owned Washington Post!"  (is Bezos the new Soros? Are there more left-wing boogeymen I'm not up to date on?)

Then we had Sean Hannity saying it was ok because was consensual.

And some senator defending a 32 year old man trying to get with 14 year old girls by saying "hey, Mary was a teenager too."  So, uh, in this analogy would Roy Moore be God or Joseph?

They went from "this is an utterly false political smear campaign!!!" to "is it really so bad to try and have sex with a 14 year old?" in just a few days.

Now Moore himself says he can't recall whether he actually dated teenagers when he was in his 30s.

I heard a discussion about this issue on CNN just yesterday where one obviously right wing nerd, whose name escapes me just now, made a comment which he prefaced by saying "Other than the fact she was underage" and then prattled on about how it seems it could have been somehow consensual.  Uh huh, and I guess we were all supposed to be dumb enough to ignore the UNDERAGE part.

They have to make a choice whether they are willing to hold their nose and have a republican senator with that kind of baggage or stay home on principal and lose the seat to the democrats.  A write in campaign is very risky and I think too late in the game to get people on board with it.  If I was a republican voter in Alabama, I would be furious.

Had it been a house seat, The republicans wouldn’t be kicking up this kind of stink.  Unfortunately they don’t have many senate seats to pick from...

Far better to have a homophobic, child molesting, religious bigot for a senator than a write in or a Democrat. Alabama proud.

That’s the calculation they face and they have to make the call whether they want to send a 1 term senator with baggage or risk the democrat winning by doing an emergency write in campaign.  The senate as you know is split in half and every vote is important, especially in these times with the power dynamic the way it is.

Ya, homophobic, child molesting, religious bigots are bad but Democrats are worse.
