Butthugger? I didn't realize you were so clever.
Sanders has some pretty good momentum going on and with Trump already back to abusing his office, it looks like the Trumpers are doing all they can to help make Bernie the first Jewish president.
They could have had semi-Republican Biden but they'll get the socialist instead. I love it.

Wife was just on Facebook. Because she was using a VPN server in LA, she just got an invitation to register for the California primary.

the OrangeOne on CNN (just now) is comparing Bloomberg to Sanders... running down Bloomberg and extolling the virtues of Sanders - claiming he'd much rather run against Sanders given his real messaging/positions.  ;D

You know that makes you sound like you're a stick in the mud (bada-bing!).

If a gay man has the word "butt" in his last name it's hilarious and deserves jokes, and anyone who doesn't think so either doesn't have a sense of humour or is too sensitive.  I actually like Buttigieg and said so several posts back, so relax max.

Sorry Buttermiley

Jewish candidate will make the neo-nazis who support Trump pretty upset.  That should be interesting.

Hey you need an ID to buy alcohol but not to vote.  99%+ of the voting population has some form of ID, especially in Canada.  No ID policies are legitimately stupid and discriminate against nobody.

Not sure what part of Canada you line in but I haven't needed needed ID to buy alcohol for years, but I've always needed ID to vote. I think you're a bit mixed up...again.

I have only used an ID once to buy alcohol in my life, I was 19 at the time. I should also mention there were women in a state of undress at the place, and the server/manager was apologetic but said they had several police incidents (not raids, but checking to make sure things were legal). I guess they had paid off several fines.

I think the difference between Canada and the United States is that the Canadian government actually goes through a lot of effort to make sure Canadians are registered (e.g. through shared data with Revenue Canada and/or with provincial governments), AND the list of acceptable ID is relatively broad (for example, in some cases Utility bills, library cards, and Student IDs are considered acceptable ID. Or, one registered voter can actually vouch for another.)

https://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?section=vot&dir=ids&document=index&lang=e#list

Compare that to the situation in the United States, where the list of acceptable voter IDs can be a lot more limited... in some cases requiring photo ID (which is not the case in Canada), or even restricting it to certain types of photo ID (such as driver's license, or even a gun license, but not student cards).

If the laws regarding voting in the United States were similar in Canada (e.g. accepting a much broader range of IDs) then voter ID laws would be less of an issue. But the attempt to restrict allowable IDs to ones that republican voters would most likely hold is a problem.

Technically you don't need an ID to vote.

You could vote if there is another registered voter with you who is willing to vouch for your identity.

(There are rules... usually one voter can only vouch for one other, and they must be going to the same polling station. Still, it does give more people the ability to vote even if they don't have proper ID.)

Yes I am aware of how that system works and to me the voter vouching system is simply another form of ID. I was also pointing out that I know I can head over to my local liquor store for a bottle of wine and all I have to show there is the method of payment.

Just a quick sidebar to that, I was flying through Chicago (O'Hare) one time and had an hour or so to kill between flights. I felt like a quick snack and so of course Chicago pizza came to mind. Found a food court counter to get a slice and right next to it was a bar counter with stools so I asked the girl behind that counter if I could sit and have a glass of wine with my pizza. She said of course but that she would need to see some ID first. As I reached for my wallet I asked her how old do you have to be to drink in Chicago? The age was 18 I think but she explained there was a regulation which disallowed her from assuming I was (well) over the age of 18 as that would be a type of "profiling".
