Some families choose to have a life where one spouse does not work outside the home and their job becomes keeping the household running which would include cooking. If can be a mutually beneficial arrangement if both parties choose it. I would not call it old fashioned - just a pragmatic division of responsibilities based on the earning power of the individuals involved.
