yabut... Trump administration rolls back Obama-era transgender health care protections

Quote
The Trump administration announced Friday it is eliminating an Obama-era regulation prohibiting discrimination in health care against patients who are transgender.
.
Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, known as the Health Care Rights Law, "prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability in certain health programs and activities." A rule enacted in 2016 interpreted the ban on sex discrimination to include discrimination on the basis of gender identity, building on similar interpretations in other federal civil rights laws and court rulings, and termination of pregnancy.

But the US Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement Friday that it was eliminating "certain provisions of the 2016 Rule that exceeded the scope of the authority delegated by Congress in Section 1557. HHS will enforce Section 1557 by returning to the government's interpretation of sex discrimination according to the plain meaning of the word 'sex' as male or female and as determined by biology."
.
Several LGBTQ rights groups immediately condemned the change, and The Human Rights Campaign said it plans to mount a legal challenge.

"We cannot and will not allow Donald Trump to continue attacking us. Today, the Human Rights Campaign is announcing plans to sue the Trump administration for exceeding their legal authority and attempting to remove basic health care protections from vulnerable communities including LGBTQ people," Alphonso David, the group's president, said in a statement.

The American Civil Liberties Union said the move could cost lives, and the National Center for Transgender Equality called the move "heartless" and said the administration is "encouraging discrimination" with the rule change.

Good timing, Donald.  Does there even need to be a challenge or is this political tinkering of his just.... cancelled ?

That’s a complete lie.  Fake news buddy.

Trump/admin buried it as a part of yet another Friday 'hide-the-news' dump

I can play out a half-dozen or so, linked articles from mainstream sources... if you're calling this 'fake news', surely... you can support your claim - yes? Here, have another:

Trump administration reverses health protections for transgender people

More fake news buddy.  It has to do with previous court rulings.  You’re in favour of the rule of law right?  Or do you just pick n choose?  Regardless the remedy is to just craft a new statute.  It’s not rocket science.  But you can’t change law by edict.  Or would you like to give Trump that power as well? 😂

As a result of the rule that HHS released today, that regulation has been reversed and “sex” once again refers only to biological sex, as was intended in the statute.

In December 2016, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas enjoined Section 1557’s prohibitions against discrimination on the basis of gender identity and termination of pregnancy. Last fall, the same federal judge vacated the rule, saying that it violated the Administrative Procedure Act and the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

As a result of these rulings, HHS no longer could enforce the Obama-era provision, and today’s new rule brings federal policy into compliance with court rulings.

was there a problem for you in actually quoting... and linking to your source - here, let me help ya out: Trump Administration Reverses Obama-Era Regulation That Redefined ‘Sex’

again, even your linked article confirms the facts that Trump rolled back... reversed the 'Obama rule'... by simply negating it and writing his own rule. But more pointedly, that new Trump "edict" goes beyond just the Obamacare ACA focus of those Obama introduced protections; specifically:
Quote
The Trump rule makes changes to gender-based discrimination protections beyond Section 1557 of the ACA; it affects regulations pertaining to access to health insurance, for example, including cost-sharing, health plan marketing and benefits. The rule could also mean that those seeking an abortion could be denied care if performing the procedure violates the provider's moral or religious beliefs.

and Trump's guy finally came through for him - Roger Severino, the devout Catholic, social-conservative, rabid anti-LGBTQ activist, head of civil-rights enforcement at HHS

CNN lol.

Waldo reported that multiple sources said this was happening.

You might not like CNN but neither they (nor FOX for that matter) make up events out of thin air.  Obamagate was as close as they came to that.

CNN doesn't "make things up", but they do spin stories, sometimes outrageously to the point of falsehood.  ie: they will not provide some context so that it will make ie: Trump look worse than what actually happened.  I find the the on-air stuff more like that than the web articles.  They went from journalism to activism, which is a shame, it used to be a fairly neutral channel.
