Corporate America distancing itself from the NRA
« on: February 23, 2018, 03:51:15 pm »
Idiots like poor little old LaPiere may now have to pay full price for their rental cars. I doubt Colt will join the crowd though.

America is pressuring companies to #BoycottNRA — and in some cases, it’s working.

Both First National Bank of Omaha, one of the nation’s largest privately held banks, and rental car company Enterprise, which also owns Alamo and National, have ended partnerships with the National Rifle Association. On Thursday, First National Bank tweeted that “customer feedback has caused us to review our relationship with the NRA” and, as a result, that it would not renew its contract for an NRA-branded Visa credit card.

Via blockchain, we could have liberal and conservative denominations of money.

"How many Trump bucks for a bump of **** and a lap dance my lovely compatriot ?"
"I'll take the **** mag, embroidered bible, and handgun and I will pay with my McConnell bucks "

FBI {Mueller} investigating whether Russian money went to NRA to help Trump

Quote
The FBI is investigating whether a top Russian banker with ties to the Kremlin illegally funneled money to the National Rifle Association to help Donald Trump win the presidency, two sources familiar with the matter have told McClatchy.

FBI counterintelligence investigators have focused on the activities of Alexander Torshin, the deputy governor of Russia’s central bank who is known for his close relationships with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the NRA, the sources said.

David Hogg is one of the most outspoken of the Florida students, and the one that retards like Alex Jones and Trump Jr have been calling a "crisis actor".

Yesterday Hogg proposed a "Spring Break Boycott" of Florida to pressure lawmakers to push for gun control.

I think this is pretty clever. The gun lobby has some influence on Florida legislators... but the tourism industry is a lot bigger. It will be interesting to see if this gets any traction, and if so, what kind of pressure Florida's tourism sector might put on legislators to make changes.

The comments section of that article is quite the gun-nut-circle-jerk.

Delta Air Lines -- Delta issued the following statement Saturday: "Delta is reaching out to the National Rifle Association to let it know we will be ending its contract for discounted rates through our group travel program. We will be requesting that the NRA remove our information from its website."

Georgia Republicans threaten to stop Delta tax break over NRA decision
...  Georgia Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, a frontrunner in the state's gubernatorial race this year, vowed to "kill any tax legislation" that helps Delta unless it reverses course.

Dick's Sporting Goods will stop selling assault rifles and high capacity magazines in all it's stores, also bans the sale of guns to anyone under 21.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/28/business/dicks-major-gun-retailer-will-stop-selling-assault-style-rifles.html

Edward Stack, the CEO, found that they'd sold Cruz a gun, though not the gun that he'd used in the shooting.  They don't want to be part of a story where kids get killed, so decided to do something about it. Stack is also calling on politicians to enact common-sense gun reforms:  ban the sale of assault weapons, bump stocks and high capacity magazines, expand background checks and raise the legal age of purchasing guns to 21.   This could result in backlash and financial losses for them, but Stack says "“If the kids in Parkland are being brave enough to stand up and do this, we can be brave enough to stand up with them.”

It is not just stupid - it is grotesquely corrupt. Linking tax reform legislation to adherence to political POVs is simply wrong. We are talking tinpot dictator tactics here.

Dicks Sporting Goods will stop selling semi auto rifles now. Cruz bought one of his there but not the one used in the shooting. The CEO said they don’t want to be in a position where one they sold is and even though it will probably cost them some business, if the kids can stand up, his company can to.
