How many people has Trump killed and/or bombed?  How many governments has Trump removed and replaced in Americas image?

Trump has damaged a bunch of US institutions yes, the social contract has been damaged yes,  based on the very likely Russian meddling etc.  "Failed state" is hyperbole, that won't happen, his own men would kill him before that.  I see the danger but not like you do i guess.

Bush almost caused three failed states, literally, oversaw the US dive into the great recession etc.  Maybe if instead of killing 100k+ Arabs with bombs he lined them up and personally shot 100 of them every day on live TV in the press briefing room it would have been a bigger deal to you & CNN?

How many murderous dictators has Trump sucked up to? Let's see, there's Putin, Fat Kim, Duterte, Erdogan, the Crown Prince, I could be missing a few. And he has come out in full support of the new alt. right president in Brazil who who admits he's a racist who hates women and gays. How big is the gap between being the killer or supporting the killer?

CNN has gone from a fairly neutral news outlet (well, only caring about sponsors really) to a joke of a liberal mouthpiece.  FOX has long remained a joke of a conservative mouthpiece, and they double-down on the "CNN is a fake news anti-trump poophole" thingy.

=

CNN is still fairly neutral, though of course, tilting to the Left like most mainstream media. But you can't equate it to a propaganda outlet like FOX, which deliberately slants and distorts its news, and invites the most idiotic of conspiratards and lunatics on to sternly proclaim this or that bullshit belief.

That the media, in general, is hostile to Trump has less to do with politics than it does with his imbecilic behavior, constant lies, and attacks on the media for accurately reporting his constant lies.

FOX is much, much worse.  But they both suffer from distinct biases that aren't exactly fair.

A bias for civilized behaviour?

I don't understand - the Bush Administration was at least sane.  What CNN is criticizing now is insanity, and you expect them to act the same as they did before?

There was a discussion on one of the media networks over the weekend, where someone pointed out that it's not required for a network to 'balance' sane views with lunatic views. Ie, if you have someone on who says that the world is round it's not necessary for you to have a counter view that the world is flat.

I'm sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong.  What the Bush administration did was par for the course for the US.  The US has always been at war.  They have always interfered in other countries.  .

Since WW2 the US has acted as the proxy for civilization and the West, as the world policeman and fireman, for the most part with the tacit or open support of the rest of the West and many other parts of the world besides. You have to take that into account when you accuse it if always interfering in other countries.

Justified or not (and sometimes their excursions were not justified) such interference is going to be resented by at least some of the people in whatever country the US has acted as 'policeman'.  To discount that as a factor when countries collapse or groups turn to terrorism is not particularly realistic, imo.

The US has acted around the world, most especially in Latin and south America. The only places where terrorists target Americans are Muslim countries, including some the US has never interfered with.

I wish it was hyperbole - the US is already consider a flawed democracy.

I'll use your argument back at you and say...par for the course.  Gerrymandering, voter suppression, parties owned by the wealthiest donors...

Trump has done bad things to US democracy etc. I agree with you.  I just happen to think half a million dead Arabs is far worse.  We'll agree to disagree.

CNN is fair and accurate, however they select their targets based on which Trump thing is the most outrageous today.  They don't like about that - Trump is a cash cow of stupid newsbytes... he pays off like a broken and retarded slot machine.

BUT

Compare it to the New York Times, which still sounds the alarm regularly but does not have a DAILY laundry list of ridiculous Trump talking points.  They may have had it at first, I don't remember, but it's no longer "news" that Trump is immoral, obstinately ignorant etc.  Nor is every stupid thing he does/say to people "news".

Now...

I think most of you people are vaguely aware that we were here before, with "Scandal sheets' around the 19th and early 20th century.  What happened ?  How did they go away ?  The answer may SHOCK you :D

Hint: It happened slowly, and without bombast, in the same way that hemlines, hat styles and facial hair trends change.  And it looked and felt modern after the change.

That wasn’t necessarily meant as a slight.

I agree with the gerrymandering thing. I live in one of the several most gerrymandered states of the Union. I don't care which party it's gerrymandered to, it sucks either which way.

I wouldn't call CNN balanced these days. They might not be as bad as Fox news, in my opinion, but they're on their way.

The B.S. in American politics has been long coming, else Trump wouldn't have won the primary in the first place.
